Sarah Khasawinah, PhD, MHS is leader in health and aging policy, recognized for her decade-long role in crafting bipartisan aging policies as a key member of the U.S. Senate Special Committee on Aging. With 20 years of experience, she has provided strategic guidance to policymakers at federal and local levels, universities, and political campaigns.

From overseeing legislative strategy, and driving impactful oversight initiatives, Sarah gets stuff done to unlock opportunities for older Americans. Her expertise spans legislative development—leading more than two dozen bipartisan bills into law—and technical prowess—as a trained biostatistician with a background in big data and machine learning, the precursor to AI.

Sarah earned her PhD in Mental Health from Johns Hopkins University, where she focused on brain health and aging. She also received an MHS in Biostatistics concentrating on neuroimaging. She received her undergraduate degrees in English and Mathematics summa cum laude from Bryn Mawr College and her first masters degree in Mathematics (harmonic analysis) from Bryn Mawr College. Sarah lives in Fairfax County, Virginia with her husband, Ahmed and their three children.
